'Decades Rewind' coming to Terry Theater

"Decades Rewind: A Tribute to an Era" is coming to the Times-Union Center's Terry Theater Friday and Saturday, June 3 and 4. An eight-piece band with six vocalists will perform medleys of popular music from the '60s, '70s and '80s, including more than 60 well-known songs.

BFAST Kids race rescheduled to July 31

Beaches Fine Arts Series has rescheduled its BFAST Kids triathlon due to the sudden rescheduling of the First Coast Kids Triathlon to the planned date. Originally slated for June 12 beginning at 8 a.m., the BFAST Kids race will now take place on July 31 beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Tronti leads Sharks over Senators

Spring practices for Fletcher and Ponte Vedra highs culminated in May 23’s spring football game at the Shark Tank, with host PV coming away with a 38-21 victory. With varsity starters on both sides playing the first two quarters, Ponte Vedra built a 28-7 lead.

First king of the season caught from Jacksonville Beach pier

The first kingfish caught from the Jacksonville Beach pier this season was landed recently by Nick Pausche. Nick’s catch weighed in at 36 pounds, a healthy mackerel and a great start to what is shaping up to be a stellar kingfish season.

Snook harvesting closes June 1

The recreational harvest of snook in Atlantic state and federal waters will close on June 1. Snook will reopen for harvest in Atlantic state and federal waters, including Lake Okeechobee and the Kissimmee River, on Sept. 1.

Kevin Brown named Fletcher High's head football coach

Longtime Fletcher High defensive coordinator Kevin Brown has been named head coach of the Senators football team. Brown confirmed he accepted the post recently following May 23's spring game loss at Ponte Vedra High.
