'Local Exposure' contest at Gallery 725

The deadline for the sixth annual “Local Exposure” photography contest is Friday at Gallery725 in Atlantic Beach. “Local Exposure” is a photographic contest open to any amateur or professional photographer in the area. Students are welcome, and will be judged in the group competition.

Another district title for girls soccer

Five minutes into last Friday night’s District 4-3A championship game against Clay, Kristen Sandifer’s looping header bounded into the net (with Piper Dotsikas lurking just in case) to give Ponte Vedra High a 1-0 lead.

With six goals in two games of last week’s District 3-4A tournament, Kendall Sambito almost "single-footedly" lifted her Senators teammates to the state playoffs.

Acrylic art on exhibit at Adele Grage Center

Mary Pratt’s unique acrylic art from photographs is on display during the month of January at the Adele Grage Cultural Center in Atlantic Beach. A reception for the artist will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at 716 Ocean Blvd., during the North Beaches Artwalk.

'Mermaid Magic V' is on exhibit

“Mermaid Magic V” is on exhibit through April 5 at First Street Gallery in Neptune Beach. Local artists Linda Olsen, Susan Fitzgerald, and Cheryl Wencel are just a few of the artists represented in this mermaid-themed show of paintings, photography, ceramics, metal, jewelry and soft sculptures.

Ponte Vedra boys soccer continues domination

Ponte Vedra High’s boys soccer team continued its season-long domination with a pair of 8-0 victories over district foes Ridgeview (last Thursday) and at Clay last Friday, but more significantly last week the undefeated Sharks ascended the rankings to become the No.

Girls, boys fall in Gateway title games

It was close but no trophies for the Fletcher High girls and boys soccer teams last Friday night with each squad suffering a loss in its respective Gateway Confer-ence championship game — albeit in very different ways.
