Day dominates to win The Players

Jason Day’s childhood idol on the golf course was Tiger Woods. Lately, the Austrailian is beginning to dominate the sport as Woods once did. The most recent evidence came May 15 with Day’s Players Championship victory over the deepest field in golf on one its most famed courses.

Red drum and sharks caught at Mayport Inlet

In the Mayport Inlet, anglers are catching plenty of red drum and sharks. Will Isom, of Atlantic Beach, fished the big jetties recently and brought in several over-slot redfish.   When fishing the big rocks for redfish, look for clean water on the jetty line during the last of an incoming tide.

DeLay wins gold and silver at state track

Fletcher High’s Kayley DeLay won one race and finished a close second in another during the recent Florida High School Athletics Association state track and field meet at IMG Academy in Bradenton. DeLay, a junior, won the Class 4A girls 3,200-meter race with a time of 10:30.30.
