A local volunteer group is hosting a holiday donation drive for its seventh annual Christmas party in Jacksonville Beach. B and E Creation Outreach/Save our Women (S.O.W.) is seeking donations through Dec. 20 of boys’ and girls’ toys, gift cards, and clothing for ages newborn to 14 years old.

Construction on Jacksonville Beach pier resumes

Construction has resumed on the Jacksonville Beach Fishing Pier, and the project is expected to take at least another year and a half to complete.
The pier sustained extensive damage during Hurricane Matthew in 2016 and again in 2017 with Hurricane Irma.

FHS converting all classes to Duval HomeRoom due to COVID-19 cases

Fletcher High School has announced multiple cases of COVID-19 impacting the school community. Because of the number of cases (currently about 16 reported cases), the school is transitioning all students to online instruction through Duval HomeRoom beginning Thursday, Oct.

The youth group’s “Halloweeny” Wizard of Oz display on the porch at Adele Grage Cultural Center on Ocean Drive supports “Halloween Doors & More,” a new special event to support Community Hospice PedsCare.

Jimmy Buffett's Jacksonville concert rescheduled

Jimmy Buffett's Dec. 8 concert at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena has been postponed until Dec. 7, 2021.
All tickets purchased for the original show will be honored on the new date. Fans who cannot attend the new date can get refunds at point of purchase.

City of Jacksonville Beach is debt-free

When Jacksonville Beach Mayor Charlie Latham took office in 2012, he set a quiet goal to eliminate the city’s outstanding debt before the end of his term. On Oct. 1, Latham made good on his promise, zeroing out nearly $42 million in debt with just over a month to spare.

Nease High School held its club fair Sept. 23 with a new Nease Beaches Go Green (BGG) High School Club.
More than 120 students signed up to join, volunteer and support this environmental and awareness student group.
