Weekend weather forecast uncertain

The weather forecast for the later part of the week and the weekend is uncertain, with models showing widely varying paths  for Tropical Storm Eta, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

St. Johns County Clerk of Courts and 7th Circuit Court closed Nov. 12

The St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller and all 7th Judicial Circuit Court operations have been suspended Nov. 12 due to potential inclement weather impacts from Tropical Storm Eta. Contact the Clerk's office for information regarding rescheduled court cases and appointments.

Holidays will be merry at Beaches Town Center

The holidays will look a little different this year but city officials in Atlantic and Neptune Beach are working together to ensure they are merry and bright in the Beaches Town Center. Atlantic Beach Mayor Ellen Glasser recently took to social media to address the cooperative effort.

Pete's Thanksgiving Day party canceled

For the first time in 35 years, Pete’s Bar will pull the plug on its annual Thanksgiving Day block party. Co-owner Tom Whittingslow said Monday that the decision was made in the interest of public safety as the number of COVID cases continues to rise.

Library sets second book sale

Following the success of the Oct. 24 book sale, the Friends of the Beaches Branch Library (FOBBL) will hold another pop-up book sale Saturday, Nov. 14, from 1 to 4 p.m. The sale will take place in front of the Beaches Branch, 600 Third Street, Neptune Beach.

Glasser wins re-election in Atlantic Beach

Beaches voters turned out in high numbers in the 2020 election. In Atlantic Beach, incumbent Mayor Ellen Glasser won re-election over opponents Terri Lynn Ray and Ricky L. Carper. Glasser thanked the city of Atlantic Beach on social media Wednesday morning.

An entry in this week's Calendar states that JAX Chamber's 7th Annual Poker Tournament will be held Thursday, Nov. 7. The tournament will actually be held Monday, Dec. 7, at bestbet Jacksonville, 201 Monument Road, Jacksonville. Check in is at 5:30 p.m., with networking and a poker lesson at 6 p.m.

AB adopts program to install dedication signs for veterans

Atlantic Beach officials unanimously approved a program to honor the lives of the city’s fallen veterans. The City Commission passed a resolution Monday adopting a program to install veterans dedication signs.
