Jacksonville Beach approves development agreement for Beach Marine

A development agreement to realign a portion of 2nd Avenue North and increase parking as part of an overall plan to redevelop the former Beach Marine complex was unanimously approved Aug. 1 by the Jacksonville Beach City Council.

Volunteers working to provide care to cats at marina

The welfare of an established cat colony near the former Beach Marine property could be jeopardized by the pending redevelopment in Jacksonville Beach. Local volunteers are seeking support for the continued care of about 60 cats that have resided on the site for the last several years.

Beach run to honor Jacksonville Beach officer is Saturday

The 3rd Annual Cpl. Andy Lavender Memorial 5K Beach Run will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday in Jacksonville Beach. Participants will head south on the beach from the Seawalk Pavilion to the turn-around site and back north to the finish line at the pavilion.

Teachers offered funding opportunity to educate students on water conservation

Now entering the seventh year of its Blue School Grant Program, the St. Johns River Water Management District is offering up to $20,000 in grants for education projects that enrich student knowledge of Florida’s water resources through hands-on learning. The application period runs Aug.

Repaving work slated to begin this week in Atlantic Beach
