Reception for Adele Grage exhibit is today

Mary Pratt’s unique acrylic art from photographs is on display during the month of January at the Adele Grage Cultural Center in Atlantic Beach. A reception for the artist will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at 716 Ocean Blvd., during the North Beaches Artwalk.

Pair of Jacksonville Beach lifeguards volunteering to rescue Syrian refugees

Two Jacksonville Beach lifeguards are part of an armada of international volunteers helping to rescue Syrian refugees off the coast of Greece.

Beach redo is set for summer

Renourishment work will begin this summer to restore sand on the beach and the equivalent of 47,000 dumptruck loads of sand will be placed from northern Atlantic Beach south to the county line.

Atlantic Beach city attorney quits job after meeting with mayor

Atlantic Beach Mayor Mitch Reeves was criticized by some of his peers for “overreaching” after the city attorney resigned following a private meeting last week. City Attorney Rich Komando’s law firm, based in Orange Park, sent an email Monday announcing the resignation.

Crenshaw staff will be at Beaches monthly

Congressman Ander Crenshaw has announced the expansion of his monthly Mobile Office hours program to include the Beaches. Once a month, Crenshaw District Director Jackie Smith will be available at a Beaches location to address questions and concerns about the federal government.

City Rescue Mission celebrates 70 years

City Rescue Mission will celebrate 70 years of hope, healing and change on Feb. 4 at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront with "Love Letters: An Evening with Pat Boone," sponsored by St. Johns Investment Management Company.
