Starfish Strut contributes to 100 Mile Club

The 3rd annual Jacksonville Beach Elementary Starfish Strut 5K and 2.5K will be held Saturday, March 5, presented by The Brace Place Orthodontics. The Starfish Strut will be held on the beach, beginning at 9 a.m., at the Atlantic Beach Lifeguard Station at the foot of Ahern Street by One Ocean.

Neptune Beach may permit chickens

A pilot program that would allow backyard hens in certain residential districts in Neptune Beach will be discussed during Tuesday's city council workshop. According to the proposed ordinance, backyards hens would be permitted in certain districts, subject to a one-time fee of $25.

Pike tapped to lead Neptune Beach police

Neptune Beach City Manager Andy Hyatt has selected Neptune Beach Sgt. Richard Pike to fill the police chief position, pending the approval of city council. The council vote to approve Pike for the position will take place Tuesday, Feb. 16, during a special meeting of the council.

Ferry to resume running Feb. 18
