Jax Beach to try and improve digital record keeping at its cemeteries

The Jacksonville Beach City Council approved a project recently that will map and mark locations at Lee Kirkland and H. Warren Smith Cemeteries, and convert paper records to digital format.

Scouts offer girl safety program

Senior Girl Scout Troop 1216 in Neptune Beach will host a teen girl safety workshop for all high school age girls on Saturday, Feb. 27, from 2-4:30 p.m. at the Beaches Little House in Jarboe Park.

Church Women United announces Human Rights Award

Executive Director Lori Anderson and Mission House have received recognition from Church Women United for the work this social service agency does to promote equality at the Beaches. Church Women United is a national ecumenical movement of Christian women which has a strong presence at the Beaches.

Early voting set for Presidential Primary

Early voting for the 2016 Presidential Preference Primary Election will take place March 5-12, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Friday; and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturdays at the Ponte Vedra Branch Library. Registered Democrats and Republicans may cast ballots in the primary.

County surveying public on future of food trucks in St. Johns County

St. Johns County is conducting a survey through April 9 to obtain public opinion regarding the operation of food trucks within St. Johns County. The survey results and any proposed regulation will be presented to the Board of County Commissioners for consideration in future meetings.

Women fill pocketbooks to help homeless women at the Beaches

Members of the local chapter of Polka Dot Powerhouse decided that since February is the month of love, they would show some to the homeless women of the Beaches by providing them with gently used purses filled with necessities.
