Horn takes over as Jacksonville Beach lifeguard captain

Bill Horn never intended to pursue a career in emergency medicine, but a summertime surfing accident on Jacksonville Beach changed all that. In June 1991, Horn was surfing 10 blocks north of his home on 15th Avenue South when he suffered a depressed skull fracture after slipping off his surfboard.

DONNA Marathon Weekend starts Friday

The 9th Annual DONNA Marathon Weekend will be held Friday through Sunday. The event includes a marathon, half marathon, and 5K and family run run. The event begins Friday with a social shakeout run at Southern Grounds, The Courtyard at 200 First Street, 200 1st St., Neptune Beach, at  8 a.m.

Exhibit showcases Made in St. Johns manufacturing

The Made in St. Johns County exhibit, on display from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. through Feb. 19 at the County Administrative Building, features a blend of small businesses and employers that manufacture a range of products locally. Hosted by the St.

Davidson Realty named raffle winner

Haley Humphrey was named the winner of Davidson Cares 2nd Annual Cooler & Cocktail Raffle – a contest that has raised more than $3,500 for St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS) since November. With more than 250 onlookers watching at Davidson Realty’s grand opening in Jacksonville Beach on Jan.

Founders of Beaches Ministerial Association tour Mission House

Four of the founders of the Beaches Ministerial Association were on hand recently to tour the newly completed capital improvements to Mission House in Jacksonville Beach. It was under their leadership that the alliance of faith leaders started BEAM and Mission House.
