Fletcher competes in state bowling finals in Orlando

Fletcher’s bowling team competed in the state finals last week in Orlando, placing 16th overall. Brianna Pisani placed 16th in the individual bracket after scoring the highest during the qualifying rounds for the Senators, scoring a 792 over four rounds.

Players completes course renovation

After almost six months of pushing around dirt, tearing down buildings, planting new and different grass, creating lakes, moving bunkers and removing trees, the big day is Tuesday, Nov. 15. The Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass will be open for business.

Sharks clinch home field for state football playoffs

Ponte Vedra clinched the District 4-5A title last Friday with a 33-14 homecoming win over visiting Parker. The Sharks (8-0, 4-0 District 4-5A), led by quarterback Nick Tronti’s three second half touchdown passes, earned home field advantage for the first round of the state playoffs with the win.

Football: Senators struggle against district opponent Columbia

Fletcher traveled to Lake City Friday night for an important district game with Columbia.

Fletcher volleyball defeats Atlantic Coast for district title

Fletcher captured the District 3-8A title at Atlantic Coast High Oct. 20, defeating the host Stingrays for the fourth time this season. The Senators opened the tournament with an easy 3-0 win over Lee Oct. 18 for a spot in the final and a guaranteed spot in the state playoffs.

Armada FC launches 2017 season tickets renewal campaign

The Jacksonville Armada FC has launched its 2017 season tickets renewal campaign complete with valuable rewards for supporters. To renew now, season ticket members can call 1-844-2-ARMADA. Fans have until Oct. 28 to renew their season tickets before their seats are released to the general public.

Challenging schedule lies ahead for Fletcher football

Fletcher football had an unexpected two-week break from action, and possibly a very welcome one, too. The Senators are undefeated with a 6-0 record and have possibly the toughest stretch on the schedule looking ahead.

Get out and have some Halloween fun

The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, 370 Zoo Pkwy., Jacksonville, will host its annual “Spooktacular” Friday through Sunday, Oct. 21 through Oct. 23, and Thursday through Monday, Oct. 27 through Oct. 31. Hours are 6:30 to 10 p.m., with gates closing at 9 p.m.

Tough week for Sharks as districts approach

Ponte Vedra volleyball had a difficult week, losing two matches to area rival teams.  The Sharks (15-7) took a loss against Creekside last Tuesday, a 3-0 shutout, which the Knights won 25-17, 25-21, 25-19. Mackenzie Morris led Ponte Vedra with 15 kills and added 13 digs in the loss.

Sheepshead plentiful along the big jetties

The higher-than-usual tides and the dirty water has the inshore bite a bit scattered. Fish are hungry but you’ll need to move around quite a bit to find them. The bait shops are having a tough time getting in bait, especially mud minnows. During these flood tides the muds are very hard to come by.
