North Beaches Art Walk provides entertainment, food and more

What has food, fun, and hand-crafted items from your local community? The best little Art Walk in the Beaches! The North Beaches Art Walk is holding its free monthly showing of local artists today from 5 to 9 p.m.

Sharks get key district win over Bishop Kenny

Ponte Vedra traveled to Bishop Kenny Oct. 14 in a key District 4-5A matchup and left squeezing out a win in the final minutes of the game.

Fletcher volleyball wins Gateway Conference, goes for district title this week

Fletcher volleyball had a busy week, making up a match with Trinity Christian, then battling it out with teams in the Gateway Conference Tournament, which the Senators cruised to a championship, shutting out all three teams it faced.

Croaker fishing tournament canceled

The annual Croaker Tournament, sponsored by American Legion Post 129 in Jacksonville Beach and originally scheduled to take place Oct. 21 and 22, has been canceled. There are currently no plans for rescheduling the event.

Hurricane Matthew keeps anglers off the water

Due to hurricane Matthew, recent reports are a bit slow. Capt. Leon Dana in Palm Valley reports the water has cooled to 75.5 degrees and the water salinity is very low. The lower salinity will likely send the sea trout closer to the inlets, but he reports that the reds are hungry.

20th Annual MagnoliaFest canceled

The St. Augustine Amphitheatre has announced that the 20th Annual MagnoliaFest event, originally scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 15, has been canceled due to the effects of Hurricane Matthew. Consequently, the Official After Party at the Elks Lodge has also been canceled.

Beaches Oktoberfest is this weekend

The Third Annual Beaches Oktoberfest is coming to the Seawalk Pavilion Friday, Oct. 14, through Sunday, Oct. 16.

Sharks battle Fleming Island in pool

Ponte Vedra traveled to Fleming Island recently for a swim meet.  In the boys, Ponte Vedra’s Jake Mier placed first in the 200-yard freestyle. Mier was also part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team, along with Andrew Relihan, Sean Hoffman and Igor Kazhuro to take first place.
