Hundreds of swimmers turn out for Ocean Marathon

The Hammerhead Ocean Marathon took place in Jacksonville Beach over the weekend, setting the stage for hundreds of swimmers to take on the course that covers the bulk of the South Jacksonville Beach coast. The event consisted of two races – a 2.5-mile and a 1.

Tijuana Flats Summer Beach Run set for this weekend

The Tijuana Flats Summer Beach Run presented by JTC Running and 1st Place Sports is set for Aug. 26. The race was first held in 1965 and started with about 30 runners who were all men. Now the race brings about 1,500 runners, both male and female, to Jacksonville Beach for the Saturday evening run.

Performance center receives major upgrade

During the 2017 THE PLAYERS Championship, TPC Sawgrass unveiled its new look, from a redesigned 12th hole, a new-look practice facility and subtle changes on many of the holes.

Summer Camps

St. Johns County Fish Camp for middle school students will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. July 24 through 28 at Trout Creek Park, 6795 Collier Road, St. Augustine. Children must have completed sixth grade to be eligible for camp.

Players will stay in May

Visitors to The Players Championship last month were impressed with all the changes on the course that have been made over the past year. But there were other changes that weren’t as visible. In January, Tim Finchem turned his title of commissioner of the PGA TOUR over to Jay Monahan.

Race fans gathered on Saturday, June 3, at Memorial Park in Jacksonville for the 4th Annual P1 Jacksonville Grand Prix, presented by Mercury Racing. Good weather prevailed with nine race teams competing for first place on the podium.

An angler caught a lemon shark in north Ponte Vedra Beach May 28. He measured and tagged the shark before returning it to the water.

Drive-By Truckers bring social commentary music to Ponte Vedra

Drive-By Truckers and guest Hiss Golden Messenger will perform at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall on Sunday, April 16, beginning at 8 p.m. Founded in 1996, Drive-By Truckers creates music with a social message in a southern American sound.

Sharks excel during Providence track meet

Ponte Vedra’s track team brought home a solid showing at the Providence Spring Break Invite over the break, with the girls placing second overall behind Baker County and the boys coming in third behind Baker and Matanzas. The Sharks placed several on the podium throughout the event.
