BAC provides safe space for swim lessons

Bill and June Williams, the managers of the Beaches Aquatic Center (BAC), have been teaching kids to swim for 42 years now. They work countless hours a week, between swim classes and pool maintenance, and they do it for free.

FWC needs you to improve recreational fisheries data collection

Did you know there are multiple ways you can contribute to fishery data collection as a recreational angler? The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) collects data in many ways including mail surveys, dockside interviews and even a phone app.

Boat club team earns gold

The Mammoglams, a Jacksonville Dragon Boat Club (JDBC) team of breast cancer survivors, participated in the Mount Dora Paddle Fest June 1, bringing home the gold medal. After a brief rain delay, the team of 10 took to the water to paddle the 380-meter race distance for three heats.

Weekend weather forecast looks promising for First Coast anglers

The weather is hot, but so is the fishing! The last few weeks have been excellent for First Coast anglers, and this weekend is looking like another great opportunity to get out on the water.

Local teams play at Jax Beach Brawl

The 2019 Jax Beach Brawl, a youth fastpitch softball tournament for girls ages 4 through 16, was held May 18 and 19 at Wingate Park in Jacksonville Beach. Participating teams are chosen to represent their home park over the summer in a series of tournaments.

PLGA hosts annual tournament

The Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach Ladies Golf Association (PLGA) held its annual Member-Guest tournament on May 9 and 10. There were two flights in the Margaritaville-themed event.
