Stolen surfboard to be replaced

A custom surfboard stolen recently in Atlantic Beach will be replaced with donations raised by members of the local surf community. The board, which belonged to Gus Fore, 19, was stolen from the 16th Street beach access in Atlantic Beach.

Fish lengths lowered for Catch a Florida Memory

In celebration of Catch a Florida Memory’s third “fish-iversary” in November, anglers have more chances to reel in a recognition by lowering Reel Big Fish lengths for ladyfish and bluefish.

New York surfer wins Red Bull Night Riders

Balaram Stack of Long Beach, N.Y., took the win in one of the premiere surf contests on the East Coast, Red Bull Night Riders. The tow-at surf competition featured six pros squaring off under the moon and stars, all attempting to pull off the best big air trick.

PLGA holds annual Member-Member Tournament

Over a chilly two days, the Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach Ladies Golf Association (PLGA) held the 2019 Member-Member Tournament, one of the major events on the PLGA schedule. The 36 hole, net better ball tourney was played Nov. 13 and 14 at Plantation.

Flagler coach looks forward to starting lacrosse

Many college coaches do not get a chance to start a program from the ground up. They generally have to inherit a program from the previous coach. Brian Duncan, Flagler College’s first head men’s lacrosse coach, will be able to start his program from scratch. The Saints debut in the spring of 2022.

Budget praised by FWC director

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Executive Director Eric Sutton applauded Gov. Ron DeSantis for his "Bolder, Brighter, Better Future" budget recommendations for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. Budget highlights include $9.

Soccer club opens registration

The Ponte Vedra Soccer Club (PVSC) has opened registration for the spring 2020 soccer session. PVSC offers several levels of age-appropriate soccer programs and training to meet the need of the player's skill level and experience.

Fletcher swimmers take third place

The Fletcher boys swim team finished third overall at the recent 3A state championship. Chance Conde won first in the 500 free, and the boys 200 free relay won first place.

PVHS boys take 4th in cross country meet

The Ponte Vedra High School Cross Country team competed at the 2019 Florida High School Cross Country State Championship Nov. 9 at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee. The boys placed fourth and the girls placed 11th.

Ponte Vedra youth wins golf championship

Lucas Giménez from Ponte Vedra won the first U.S. Kids Golf South American Championship, held Nov. 1 through 3 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The 11-year-old golfer shot a 69 -3 under par. Giménez is also a martial arts world champion.
