Ponte Vedra High School's football playoff run ends

Playing in steady rain for much of the game, Ponte Vedra’s high school football season came to an end Nov. 8 with a 14 to 7 loss to Lake City Columbia. The Tigers took a 14 to 7 lead going into the final quarter of the Region 1-6A quarterfinal. Leading 14-0, Columbia QB Jordan Smith fumbled.

Croquet club hosts events for senior games

Members of the Cypress Village Croquet Club were hosts to the annual City of Jacksonville Senior Games “50 and Fit” Croquet events. Players all over the city gathered at the community to play three rounds of elimination golf croquet and six wicket croquet.

Ponte Vedra swim team takes district championship

On Oct. 29, the Ponte Vedra High School girls swim team was crowned district champions for the ninth year in a row. The boys team came in as runners-up to Fletcher High School.

Beaches Chapel School run raises money for new school bus

Beaches Chapel School held the 13th Annual Run with the Lions 5K and 1 Mile Beach Run Nov. 2.   Ally Building Solution was the title sponsor of this event. More than $12,000 was raised toward a new school bus.

Senators miss playoffs with loss

Oct. 31 was a huge challenge for the 2019 Fletcher football team. With a win, the team could slide into a playoff spot in 7-A post play, but the challenge would be the defending 8-A State Champion Mandarin Mustangs, led by University Georgia commit Carson Beck.

Jacksonville hosting annual Florida-Georgia game

The city of Jacksonville will host the annual Florida-Georgia football game on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 3:30 p.m. at TIAA Bank Field, where the University of Florida will take the home field against the University of Georgia.

Boat club offering loaner life jackets for kids

The Jacksonville Beach location of the Freedom Boat Club is participating in the Boat U.S. Foundation’s Life Jacket Loaner Program for Kids. The program allows boaters to borrow a child’s life jacket for a day at no charge.
