Kingfish Tournament celebrating 40th anniversary

The Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a bash event on Monday, July 13. The high roller tournament is limited to the first 40 entries, with the exception of past champions.

Lady Sharks compete in SunCoast Classic

The Ponte Vedra Lady Sharks (4-7) traveled to Tampa to compete in the Keswick SunCoast Classic basketball tournament recently. They opened up against the Warhawks of Seminole High School (3-7) Dec. 27, 2019.

National Signing Day

Ponte Vedra boys soccer team adds awards

Ponte Vedra High school boys soccer went 2-0 recently.   On Dec. 9, the boys varsity beat Nease High School 7 to 0 with goals scored by Jack Impey (2), David Morales (2), Stefan Madafarri, Noel Voegeli and Liam Burchell.   On Dec. 12, PVHS beat Creekside 3 to 1.

JBGA offers free kids golf

The Jacksonville Beach Golf Association (JBGA) has launched its Kids Play Free program at Jax Beach Golf Club. The program is a free junior golf initiative and a first for the area.

Lady Sharks battle on the basketball court

The Lady Sharks (2-4) hosted Fleming Island High School (4-1) Dec. 6. The Fleming Island team won the contest 50 to 36. The Ponte Vedra Lady Sharks basketball team (2-3) hosted the Mustangs of Mandarin High School (4-2) on Dec. 5.

Wolfson freshman has football season to remember

Neptune Beach resident and Wolfson High School student Michael Weidle emerged from his football season with some statewide victories, countywide recognition and a team of new friends who weathered the ups and downs in a hard-fought football season.

FWC honors 2019 Lionfish Challenge winners

At its December meeting in Panama City Beach, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) presented trophies to the first-place winners of the 2019 Lionfish Challenge. The Lionfish Challenge awards participants for their efforts in removing lionfish from Florida waters.

Mother and daughter honor father's memory

As a young couple, crazy in love and raising a beautiful little girl, Brett and Kathy Austin were living a life full of family, waves and friends in a tight-knit Beaches community. The fairytale took a tragic turn when Brett was diagnosed at 21 with an aggressive form of brain cancer.
