Redfish tournament is this weekend

This weekend, Capt. Don Dingman and the Hook the Future Foundation will host the annual Full of Bull Redfish Tournament. The grand prize winner will take home $1,500 cash, plus a one-week stay and a half-day fishing charter in Nosara, Costa Rice, thanks to Nosara Paradise Rentals and Fishing Nosara.

Senators dominate in homecoming game

Fletcher High won in dominating fashion on its homecoming night, defeating visiting Westside High 54-21 at Jack Taylor Stadium. The Senators (5-0, 1-0 District 2-7A)  once again used their ground game to wear out the Wolverines (1-3), picking up 177 yards and scoring six times off running plays.

Tronti accounts for five touchdowns in Sharks' win over Pirates

Ponte Vedra had little trouble with visiting Menendez Friday night, besting the Pirates 49-22 at The Shark Tank. The Sharks (4-0) have now put over 40 points on the board in three straight games.

American Legion hosting kayak challenge

The First Linda Netti Kayak Challenge will be hosted this weekend at American Legion Post 316 in Atlantic Beach. The tournament features a unique format of largest red, largest flounder and largest trout caught from a non-motorized kayak, SUP or canoe.

Fletcher bowling shuts down Wolfson at Beach Bowl

Fletcher Bowling recorded two victories recently, defeating Mandarin 5-2 Sept. 14 and shutting down Wolfs 7-0 Sept. 19 at Beach Bowl. Rachel Harvey was the medalist against Mandarin, bowling a 345 in the match. The Senators totaled 1,617 pins in the win.

In boys golf, Senators defeat Atlantic Coast, fall to Providence

The Senators faced Atlantic Coast Sept. 19, winning the match 173-190 over the Stingrays at Oakbridge.  Kyle Horton recorded the low round for Fletcher with a 41. Cameron Hrachovina and Jordan Heidecker reached carded a 43 in the win.

American Legion croaker fishing tournament upcoming

The annual Croaker Tournament, sponsored by American Legion Post 129 in Jacksonville Beach, will take place Oct. 21 and 22.  Many local merchants have donated gift certificates, merchandise and money as prizes awarded at the conclusion of the tournament. Entry fee is $100 per boat ($90 before Oct.

Sisters of the Sea Surf Classic shreds at the pier

The 18th Annual Sisters of the Sea Surf Classic Presented by Natural Life took place at the Jacksonville Beach Pier Sept. 17, with some decent waves and plenty of competition.

Sharks dominate in football, beat Wolfson 44-0

The Ponte Vedra Sharks continued to light up the scoreboards this season with another convincing win, this time over district opponent Wolfson.
