Fletcher dominates Lee in girls volleyball

The Senators had little trouble with Lee High despite the Fletcher gym’s air conditioning system being out. Fletcher (2-1) muscled through the heat to defeat the Generals (0-1) 25-5, 25-11, 25-7. Mia McKay had a match-high 32 assists.

Fletcher rallies past Parker for win

Fletcher rallied back from a slow first half to win its first home game of the season 35-20 over visiting Terry Parker. The game, rescheduled from Sept. 2 due to weather forecasts expected from Hurricane Hermine, took place at Jack Taylor Stadium on Labor Day.

Auto Show is Sunday

The St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce will host the 14th annual Ponte Vedra Auto Show at Nocatee Town Center Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The show, which is free and open to spectators, will feature up to 175 classic and new collectors’ cars.

Bruval Jax beer fest celebrates craft beer movement

Bruval Jax, a one-day craft beer festival, will take place on Saturday, Sept. 10, from noon until 10 p.m. at the SeaWalk Pavilion, located at 1st Street North in Jacksonville Beach. The event will feature games, live music, food trucks, a beer garden, beer tasting and more.

Varadan wins Junior Players in playoff

The 2016 Junior Players Championship presented by TaylorMade-adidas Golf needed a sudden-death playoff to decide a champion. Khavish Varadan of Wesley Chapel, Fla., emerged as the victor with a tournament-total 10-under-par 206.

Splash Dance Team holding fund raiser

The Ponte Vedra High School Splash Dance Team will have its annual Splashette Camp fund raiser on Saturday, Sept. 24. Local children will have the opportunity to become Splashette dancers, learn a dance from the Splash and perform at a PVHS football game.

Beaches Museum will hold first train day

The Beaches Museum will hold its first Riding the Rails: Pablo Beach Train Day on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will celebrate all things related to trains and railways.
