Nease NJROTC cadets roll to second drill championship

The Navy’s JROTC drill program at Nease traveled to North Georgia and captured the Stockbridge Drill Meet overall championship against 10 Georgia schools Feb. 6. The team had never previously competed at the competition hosted by Stockbridge NJROTC.

Beach Bowl coming back with a new look

A new multi-million plan will transform the empty Beach Bowl location into an entertainment complex with rooftop dining in Jacksonville Beach. The iconic bowling alley located at 818 Beach Blvd. closed in November 2019 after 50 years in operation. Agent Randall Whitfield with H&H Enterprises, Inc.

Local athlete chosen for IOC program

The International Olympic Committee announced Lawrence (Lance) Tan, a resident of Ponte Vedra, as one of the next generation of 25 IOC Young Leaders who have been selected for the 2021-2024 IYL programme supported by Worldwide Olympic Partner Panasonic Corporation.

Go Green winter run made more environmentally friendly

The Go Green Winter Beaches Run 5-Mile partnered with Beaches Go Green for the second year in a row to make the event more environmentally friendly. The five-mile run took place Jan. 30 in Jacksonville Beach.

Fletcher wrestling wins Gateway Conference

Fletcher Wrestling successfully defended their Gateway Championship title this past Saturday, Jan. 30. They won 1st place with a score of 222.5 points. Mandarin placed 2nd with 160.5 points.

Great game day grub

While you may not be able to enjoy game day with thousands of your closest friends at the stadium this year, that doesn't mean you can't still enjoy tailgate-worthy grub at home with a smaller group of friends and loved ones.

Atlantic Beach baseball registration opens

Atlantic Beach Baseball is for boys and girls age 3-years-old  to 12-years-old. Registration is open until Feb. 13 at www.abbaseball.com. Player evaluations are Feb. 13 with walk-up registrations accepted that day. The cost is $150 and  includes a full uniform.  Start of season is March 6.

Lady Sharks defeat Golden Eagles

The Lady Sharks of Ponte Vedra (14-5) traveled to the Golden Eagles of Fleming Island High School (8-5) for a Tuesday night game. They say defensive wins big games and that was true during this contest. The Lady Sharks of Ponte Vedra battled the athletic and sharp shooting Eagles in the first half.

Fletcher's Espenship reaches 1,000-point mark

The Fletcher High School girls basketball team has reached another milestone this season in addition to a dominating record of 17-2. Senior shooting guard Elana Espenship has surpassed the feat of a high school career of scoring 1,000 points.
