JAX Chamber hosting golf tournament

The JAX Chamber is hosting the Chamber Classic Golf Tournament Monday, April, 5 at The Palencia Club. Members are invited to the event, intended to bring business leaders together on the golf course. The golf tournament includes lunch, contests and prizes.

Lady Sharks lacrosse team falls to Vero Beach in overtime

The Ponte Vedra Lady Sharks (1-1) traveled to Vero Beach High School (2-0) Saturday for a match between two of Florida’s top girls lacrosse programs. The Sharks came out with an offensive assault to start the game, with their ball movement seeing them have a halftime lead of 11-4.

What a week of nice weather we’ve been blessed with on the First Coast. If you’ve had a day off this week, I hope you snuck out on the water and did some fishing. The spring bite inshore is picking up with the temperature, and offshore was wide open for all the boaters I talked to this week.

FHS softball wins against Flagler

Fletcher High School kicked off its first preseason softball game with an 11-1 win over Flagler Palm Coast Feb. 12. Pitcher Presley Harrell took the win. She surrendered one run on five hits over six innings, and struck out five.

Ponte Vedra basketball ends season at regional semi-finals

The Class 5A #14 ranked Lady Sharks of Ponte Vedra (17-7) traveled to the #7 ranked Yellow Jackets of St. Augustine High School (25-1) to compete in the Class 5A Basketball Regional Semifinals Tuesday night.

New flounder regulations effective ­­March 1

Starting March 1, the following changes will go into effect for flounder: • Extending ALL Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) flounder regulations into federal waters. • Increasing the minimum size limit from 12 inches to 14 inches total length (recreational and commercial).

FWC meeting virtually Feb. 25-26

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will meet virtually Feb. 25 and 26 beginning at 9 a.m. each day. The meeting will be held virtually due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines.
