Gulf Council wants your information on gag grouper

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council would like to gain a better understanding of gag grouper in the Gulf of Mexico. The council is seeking information from anglers and divers about what they have observed, including any “strange things” that scientists and managers may need to know.

Inshore tides favorable for morning, evening trips

The next couple days things should start to warm up after a cold start to December. After the chill at the start of the week expect the fish to be a little sluggish, but then feed hard as soon as the water warms back up a few degrees.

Saturday's Surf-A-Thon to benefit SurfearNEGRA

The first ever SurfearNEGRA Surf-A-Thon is coming to Jacksonville Beach this weekend. Held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, proceeds from the fund-raiser will help introduce new surfers to the sport of surfing.

Freedom Boat Club a winner at Light Boat Parade

Freedom Boat Club Jacksonville was named a winner at Jacksonville Light Boat Parade. The boat club was awarded second place in the corporate boat category. The club’s pontoon boat named The Board Room was decorated with lots of lights, the Freedom Boat Club logo and Santa at the helm of his boat.

FWC virtual meeting Dec. 16-17 open to the public

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will meet virtually Dec. 16 and 17 beginning at 9 a.m. each day. The meeting will be held virtually due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines.

Jacksonville Watercolor Society leaving the beach

For the last few years, the Jacksonville Watercolor Society (JWS) has made its home at the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach. The organization meets monthly for eight months to conduct business and enjoy an art demonstration with local or national artists.

FMS volleyball has perfect season

The Fletcher Middle School Lady Senators’ volleyball team capped off a perfect 12-0 season by winning the City Championship Nov. 18. They defeated Landon Middle School 2 sets to 0.
