Wahoo bite is picking up offshore

It’s been a nice run of unseasonably warm, great weather this week on the first coast. We had a couple windows to get offshore the last week but once again it’s looking questionable for the weekend.

Fletcher girls basketball has dominating season

The Fletcher High School Lady Senators girls basketball team is 15-1 following the Gateway Tournament. There are five regular season games left before districts. The lead scorer is senior shooting guard Elana Espenship, who is close to breaking a career 1,000 points.

Lady Sharks defeat Ed White in basketball

The Lady Sharks of Ponte Vedra (9-4) traveled to the Commodores of Ed White High School (3-10) for a Tuesday night game. Ponte Vedra stifled Ed White in the first half and took a lead of 45-19 into halftime.

Weekend looks good for inshore fishing

Happy New Year! I hope 2021 brings everyone good luck and good fishing! After an unseasonably warm start to the year it has cooled off a little this week, but the bite is still hot. This coming weekend, the weather looks good for fishing inshore.

Softball team collects donations for BEAM food pantry

Queen of the Beach is a fastpitch softball tournament that happens every December to benefit BEAM Food Pantry. Teams compete to be the champion – to be the Queen of the Beach. This year, 48 teams competed in the two-day tournament. Teams range in age from under 8 years old to under 18 years old.

Spectators to be allowed at 2021 THE PLAYERS

Spectators will be allowed on site at the 2021 THE PLAYERS Championship. Safety measures will be in place for the event, including fewer people on the course.

TaxSlayer Gator Bowl to follow COVID guidelines

John Duce, chairman of the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl, has announced that the North Carolina State Wolfpack will play the University of Kentucky Wildcats Saturday, Jan. 2, in the 76th playing of the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl.

Lady Sharks defeat Creekside and Ridgeview

On Dec. 17, the Ponte Vedra Lady Sharks (5-3) hosted county rival Creekside High School (1-10) in girls basketball. Ponte Vedra came out flying in the first half and led 25-17 at halftime. PV took control of the game and took the lead 48-33 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
