What a difference a week makes on the water. The last few days have seen the fishing go from good to great. Inshore, offshore, from the beach, whatever you want to do, the options are wide open right now.

FWC to hold virtual meeting May 12-13

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will meet virtually May 12 and 13 beginning at 9 a.m. each day. The meeting will be held virtually using communications media technology due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines.

Fletcher softball goes 2-1

The Fletcher High School girls softball team went 2-1 this past week with a late inning loss to Creekside, followed by victories over Bolles (4-0) and Nease (3-2). Presley Harrell had a shutout in the Bolles game and Megan Batten had a three-run home run to secure the win.

Oceanside Rotary holding cornhole fund-raiser

As part of Oceanside Rotary’s upcoming Cornhole Tournament Fund-raiser to support BEAM, they will be holding a raffle with prizes. The tournament will be held May 1 at the Jacksonville Beaches Municipal Golf Course Driving Range from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Beaches Lions Club hosting bowling tournament

The Jacksonville Beaches Lions Club will host local bowlers for its annual fund-raiser at Jax Lanes on the Southside April 17. The event will include an afternoon of family-friendly bowling, gift card raffles and a 50/50 drawing.
