Boat ramps likely to be busy this weekend

First off, congratulations to local team Time Served for taking the win in the St. Augustine Meat Mayhem Kingfish Tournament. Awesome seeing a local crew in a local made Frontrunner center console take the win!

Friends and teammates of a former Fletcher High School lacrosse player killed last year in a hit-and-run accident gathered recently on the team’s practice field to dedicate a ball wall in her memory.

77th Annual TaxSlayer Gator Bowl date announced

The TaxSlayer Gator Bowl, TaxSlayer and ESPN announced May 27 that the 77th Annual TaxSlayer Gator Bowl will be played on Bill Gay Grounds at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville Friday, Dec. 31, at 11:00 a.m. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.

Palmer Catholic Academy wins championship

Palmer Catholic Academy girls basketball team won the league tournament championship 29-16 over Assumption at Bishop Kenny May 20. This is the fourth consecutive year the team has won the league championship, with a 53-2 record over the four-year span.

Waters expected to be busy this holiday weekend

Are you ready for some chaos? The busiest weekend of the year is here and everyone with a watercraft will be attempting to get on the water. With a long holiday weekend ahead be prepared mentally to deal with heavier crowds at the ramp, practice patience, and most importantly stay safe on the water.

FWC approves new Florida Saltwater Fishing Record for whiting/kingfish

William Joseph Peckham caught the Gulf kingfish (whiting) of a lifetime April 18 while fishing off Pensacola Beach. His 2.4-pound catch beat out the previous Florida Saltwater Fishing Record of 2.19 pounds. “I’ve had so many exciting, memorable experiences fishing on Pensacola Beach,” said Peckham.
