Fletcher volleyball takes runner-up spot

Fletcher High School's volleyball team finished as the Gold Bracket runner-up in the 2021 Elise Bush Invitational. Fletcher defeated Episcopal, Tallahassee Lincoln and Middleburg before falling to Jupiter High School, 27-29 and 20-25, in the final.

A free tai chi for arthritis program for ages 60 and older is being held Fridays and Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. online through Nov. 24. Call 877-784-8486 to register. A free arthritis exercise program is being held Tuesdays and Thursdays through Nov. 23 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. online.

September ends with fantastic fishing

What a nice end to September on the First Coast. The fishing has been fantastic. Football is back, you can walk outside at 6 a.m. without breaking a sweat. For inshore fishing, we’re in the thick of the mullet run now.

Beaches Go Green members learn boating safety

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary hosted a boater’s safety course for Beaches Go Green High School Club officers from Nease High School, Tocoi Creek High School and Ponte Vedra High School.

The community is invited to participate in a benefit golf tournament to raise money for the Fletcher High School lacrosse teams. Registration is under way for the fund-raiser to be held Sunday, Oct. 3, at Blue Sky Golf Course, located at 1700 Monument Road.

Fishing has been shifting to a fall pattern

With the heat index this week it certainly still feels like summer but the fishing has been shifting more and more to a fall pattern. Whenever the winds shift North the Mullet run is on. The Flounder bite’s still steady, so bigger fish reported this week.

Wavemasters Pro-Am coming Oct. 2

The 38th annual Wavemasters Pro-Am is coming up Oct. 2. This year, due to COVID, the event is downsizing to three pro divisions and three youth divisions. The winners of the boys, girls and super grom divisions will get a free slot in their respective pro division.
