Ponte Vedra tennis results

The Sharks won last week’s District 4-2A tournament played at The Bolles School in boys tennis. Individual boys winners in singles included Eric Gravelle and Chris Hewlett. In doubles play, Hunter Law and Davis Massey teamed for a victory.

Ponte Vedra upends The Villages in softball

The Sharks offense erupted for 21 hits, including seven for extra bases, in a lopsided 15-5 victory last Friday. PV plated three runs in the top of the first inning, then added four more in the second.

Girls lacrosse scores impressive victories

Ponte Vedra High girls lacrosse wrapped up the regular-season slate with a trio of impressive victories last week.  On March 28, the Sharks hosted Oviedo (12-6) and triumphed 16-13 in a back-and-forth battle. Last Wednesday, St.

Sharks top Senators in baseball

With a pair of runs in the top of the second inning and one more in the third, the visiting Ponte Vedra Sharks earned victory in April 1’s latest Battle of the Beaches against Fletcher High School, 3-1.

Music festival continues

Friday is deadline to register as volunteer for Players

In preparation for The Players Championship, set for May 10 through May 15, volunteer registration will remain open through Friday, April 8. “Our volunteer teams are the heart of The Players Championship,” said Michele McManamon, tournament chairman for The Players.

Senators advance in Gateway baseball

Fletcher won a pitcher’s duel in Monday’s opening round of the Gateway Conference baseball tournament, downing Englewood 2-1 to advance. Senators ace Korey Prince limited the Rams to just two hits in the ballgame, as the senior right-hander improved his mark to 3-4 this season.

Donation presented to Arnie's Army

Alex Wulfeck, Jacksonville resident and winner of the PGA Tour Volunteer Challenge, helped present a $10,000 donation to Arnie’s Army Charitable Foundation on behalf of Astellas. The donation honors Wulfeck for winning the Volunteer Challenge at the recent Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando.

Bear population in Florida shows growth

Recently completed scientific estimates of black bear populations in Florida indicate the statewide population is now 4,350 adult bears.
