St. Johns County opens transfer stations for Hurricane Ian debris disposal

St. Johns County lifts evacuation order

Effective Sept. 30, evacuation orders for all zones enacted in St. Johns County in response to Hurricane Ian have been lifted. Residents are encouraged to drive with caution, as isolated areas may still have standing water causing them to be impassable and may be restricted by emergency services.

Damage assessments underway in St. Johns County

St. Johns County experienced significant impacts from Hurricane Ian. Although the storm has moved from the area, residents who evacuated are urged to wait before returning. There are numerous trees and powerlines down, and flooding throughout the county causing hazardous conditions.

DCPS opening Monday

First Coast Dancing with the Stars raises funds for BFAS

On Sept. 17, at WJCT Studios, Beaches Fine Arts Series’ First Coast Dancing with the Stars presented 10 local celebrities, coupled with 10 professional dancers, competing for the mirror ball trophies. The winners were: Champion – Brandice Acree-Landing dancing with pro Sean Anthony.

Area storm updates

The beaches at Atlantic Beach, Jacksonville Beach and Neptune Beach are closed until further notice. Duval County Public School schools and offices are closed through Sunday, Oct. 2; after-school activities are canceled.

Duval County school announcement set for Saturday

Duval County Public Schools will assess any damages to schools, close down shelter operations (once it is confirmed that city shelters are closed) and begin campus clean-ups, as necessary, on Friday, Sept. 30.
