St. Johns County provides free sandbags to residents

St. Johns County is providing free sandbags at three locations throughout the county in preparation for Nicole. The sand and the bags provided are free of charge. Residents must provide their transportation and shovels, and are responsible for filling their bags.

Water management district monitoring subtropical storm

The St. Johns River Water Management District is monitoring Subtropical Storm Nicole and is taking proactive measures to help manage the anticipated rainfall in the coming days.

St. Johns County beach driving restricted ahead of Nicole

In anticipation of Subtropical Storm Nicole, on-beach driving is restricted at Porpoise Point as of Nov. 7. The remaining vehicular access ramps will be restricted beginning Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 3 p.m. These restrictions will be imposed for the duration of the storm. St.

The National Hurricane Center issued a tropical storm watch and storm surge watch for St. Johns County on Monday, Nov. 7, in anticipation of Subtropical Storm Nicole. St. Johns County Emergency Management is monitoring the storm and will provide updates as they are made available.

Costs for Neptune Beach senior center continue to climb

Completion of the long-awaited senior activity center in Neptune Beach is inching closer as the final construction costs continue to climb. The City Council recently moved to accept a $48,000 Community Development Block Grant from the city of Jacksonville.
