Beaches Watch has announced the Beaches Council on Aging is the 2022 Beaches Watch Give-Back Donation recipient. On Wednesday, Dec. 7, Beaches Watch will present the Give-Back donation to representatives from the Beaches Council on Aging at 7 p.m. at the Beaches Branch Library, 600 3rd St.

Following a recount, the Duval County Supervisor of Election has certified the Nov. 8 Atlantic Beach election results; Curtis R. Ford, Candace Kelly and Jessica Ring were elected mayor, city commissioner (seat 4) and city commissioner (seat 5), respectively.

Beaches seniors invited to Thanksgiving dinner

The senior citizens of the beaches area are invited to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving Day, Nov, 24, at 3 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2400 Mayport Road, Atlantic Beach. This is an ongoing tradition since 1978.

Beaches issue holiday sanitation schedules

In Jacksonville Beach, due to the Thanksgiving holiday, both Thursday and Friday sanitation collection schedules are being adjusted. There will be no collections on Thursday, Nov. 24. Garbage, recycling, bulk and yard waste that are normally collected on Thursday, will be picked up on Friday, Nov.

The Jacksonville Beach City Council held a special meeting Nov. 14 to appoint a new member to replace outgoing councilman Chet Stokes following his resignation.  “I want to thank everyone who applied. We do appreciate everyone who put themselves out there,” said Mayor Chris Hoffman.
