Army veteran honored with street sign dedication in Neptune Beach

The street sign on the corner of 3rd and Hopkins Street in Neptune Beach was officially dedicated to Army Sgt. Joseph H. Pierce Jr. on Dec. 10. Pierce's widow, Janet Foster Pierce, was the guest of honor, and his son, Joseph Todd Pierce, was present as well.

Local students volunteer at holiday cleanup

There was a large volunteer turnout for the recent Beaches Go Green Holiday Cleanup at the Beaches Town Center. More than 300 volunteers came out for the holiday-themed event.

Two menorah lightings with family fun activities planned

The Chabad at the Beaches is sponsoring events at both ends of the beach during the celebration of Chanukah this year. Both center around the lighting of the menorah and include fun activities for children and adults. The lighting of the menorah is done outside in the dark.

Holiday Giving Tree Program hosted for children in need

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul-beaches, in partnership with BEAM, is hosting a holiday Giving Tree Program for children in need. Children must be 14 and younger to participate. A registration form must be completed for each child to receive gifts.

FEMA individual assistance available for Hurricane Nicole survivors

FEMA’s Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in St. Johns County is now serving survivors of Hurricane Nicole, in addition to Hurricane Ian. The DRC is in the Wind Mitigation Building, located at 3111 Agricultural Center Dr., St. Augustine. The DRC is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
