Atlantic Beach studying stormwater project

Atlantic Beach officials are taking advantage of a 45-day extension to study the viability of property slated for a proposed stormwater collection project. The results of the environmental assessment will be presented to the City Commission at its next regularly scheduled meeting.

Outdoor restaurant at updated Beach Bowl gets approval

A conditional use request to allow for an outdoor restaurant and seating at the updated Beach Bowl location was unanimously approved Oct 23 by the Jacksonville Beach Planning Commission. Beach Bowl has been undergoing extensive renovations over the last two years.

Sailboat runs aground off Jacksonville Beach

A large sailboat ran aground near 14th Avenue in Jacksonville Beach. The boat’s owner, Luke Rehberg, lives aboard the vessel, which was floating off the coast during the air and sea Oct. 21 and 22. The anchor broke and the engine failed, allowing waves to push the craft onto the beach.

Search ongoing for missing boat

Families of the men aboard a missing fishing vessel are hoping for a miracle. Caleb Wilkinson, Tyler Barlow and Dalton Conway were last seen on the "Carol Ann," a 31-foot fishing boat, Oct. 18 approximately 80 miles off the coast of Brunswick, Ga.

The woman accused of plotting to murder her ex-husband was returned to Jacksonville last week, where she faces the death penalty if convicted. Shanna Gardner is scheduled for a Nov. 3 arraignment, according to the State Attorney's Office. Her first court appearance was originally scheduled for 1 p.
