Buddy Walk set for Saturday in Jacksonville Beach

The 21st Annual Buddy Walk returns to Jacksonville Beach this weekend to raise money for the Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville (DSAJ). More than 4,000 people are expected to participate in the event, which begins at noon Saturday at the Seawalk Pavilion.

Atlantic Beach hosting town hall meeting

The Atlantic Beach City Commission will host a town hall meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Jordan Community Center, located at 1671 Francis Ave. Community members are encouraged to participate in the open forum meeting. The topic of the town hall is an update on the city’s Master Parks Plan.

South Ponte Vedra Park, GTM south parking lot temporarily closed

Today, St. Johns County will temporarily close South Ponte Vedra Park, 2993 S. Ponte Vedra Blvd., and the Guana Tolomato Matanzas (GTM) south parking lot, 2200 Ponte Vedra Blvd., for public safety as crews begin work on the next phase of the FEMA Dune Enhancement Project.

St. Johns County has new acting fire chief

The St. Johns County Fire Rescue Department has been temporarily restructured as Fire Chief R. Scott Bullard has resigned. Bullard was named fire chief in May 2023 to replace Chief Jeffrey Prevatt, who retired in December 2022. Battalion Chief Sean McGee will serve as acting fire chief.
