St. Augustine Sailing achieves autism certification

When Chuck and Rose Ann Points acquired St. Augustine Sailing, they dreamed of sharing their love of sailing with everyone. And by everyone, they mean everyone.

BEAM has new executive director

New leadership is in place at the Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM). The organization announced Sept. 22 that Jeff Winkler was named the new executive director, replacing Lori Richards, who will retire at the end of the year.

A beaches family is facing an unimaginable diagnosis with an unsinkable spirit. Trey and Shandy Thompson were a young family, just starting their lives together with a toddler and a new home in Jacksonville Beach, when tragedy first struck.

Members of several beaches community service organizations observed Celebrate Community Week, Sept. 11 through 17, by holding a joint food drive to benefit the Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM).

Man dead following shooting in Jacksonville Beach

A man is dead and a woman is behind bars following a weekend shooting in Jacksonville Beach. Police responded around 9 p.m. Sept. 24 to O-Ku sushi restaurant at 502 1st St. N. near the Jacksonville Beach Pier after receiving reports of a person shot.

The Beaches Watch Board of Directors is requesting the submission of nominations for the 14th Annual Beaches Watch "Give Back" donation. This $500 donation recognizes a nonprofit organization that enriches the lives of beaches residents.
