Atlantic Beach votes to appoint Killingsworth city manager

Following a lengthy selection process, Atlantic Beach has hired a new city manager. The Atlantic Beach City Commission voted unanimously Aug. 22 to appoint Bill Killingsworth, director of the Jacksonville Planning and Development Department, to the position.

Beaches Watch hosting state of schools meeting

Beaches Watch will host a “state of our schools” meeting Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Beaches Branch Library, 600 Third St., Neptune Beach. The meeting is open to the public.

Water management district offices reopen as damage assessments begin

Effective immediately, St. Johns County is lifting the mandatory evacuation order previously issued for all people living in low-lying, flood-prone areas, or on a boat, in a mobile home, recreational vehicle, camper, or similar conveyance. St.

JTA suspends ferry, bus and Skyway services

The National Weather Service-Jacksonville has issued a tornado watch for all of St. Johns County in anticipation of the impacts of Hurricane Idalia. St. Johns County Emergency Management (SJCEM) is monitoring the storm and will provide updates as they are made available.
