St. Johns County issues mandatory evacuation

St. Johns County is issuing a mandatory evacuation order effective 5 p.m. Aug. 29 for everyone living in low-lying, flood-prone areas; or on a boat, mobile home, recreational vehicle, camper or similar conveyance. The county will open two storm shelters to the public Aug. 29 at 5 p.m.

Affected by Tropical Storm Idalia:

Residential garbage customers in Duval County who are normally serviced on Wednesdays will be serviced Saturday, Sept. 2, instead. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday customers remain unaffected (subject to change). St.

St. Johns County announces updates to services

Ahead of Tropical Storm Idalia, St. Johns County is announcing updates to services for residents. Government Offices     •    All St. Johns County government offices will be closed on Wednesday, Aug. 30.     •    All city of St. Augustine government offices will close on Tuesday, Aug. 29, at 3 p.m.

Duval County, St. Johns County public schools closing due to Idalia

Duval County Public Schools will be closed Tuesday through Thursday, Aug. 29 through 31, due to Tropical Storm Idalia. Visit dcps.duvalschools.org for updates. All St. Johns County (SJC) School District schools and district offices will be closed Wednesday, Aug. 30, due to the storm.

St. Johns County under Tropical Storm Watch

The National Hurricane Center issued a Tropical Storm Watch for St. Johns County Aug. 28, at 11 a.m. in anticipation of Tropical Storm Idalia. St. Johns County Emergency Management (SJCEM) is monitoring the storm and will provide updates as they are made available.
