Neptune Beach seeks to dismiss lawsuit from former city manager

Neptune Beach is seeking to dismiss a discrimination lawsuit filed against the city by its former city manager, Stefen Wynn. A hearing scheduled Nov. 7 on the city’s Motion to Dismiss was cancelled by the city’s attorney, Susan Erdelyi.

One dead in Ponte Vedra shooting

One suspect is dead and another is in police custody following an officer-involved shooting Nov. 4 in Ponte Vedra. The fatal shooting took place at Davis Park at 8:37 a.m. while a youth soccer tournament was underway. The deceased suspect was identified as 42-year-old Dustin Alan Rush.

Gardner enters plea of not guilty

The woman charged with orchestrating the murder of her ex-husband entered a not-guilty plea last week after hiring a new high-profile defense attorney. Shanna Lee Gardner, 36, is one of three defendants charged in the killing of Jared Bridegan, who was ambushed Feb. 16, 2022, in Jacksonville Beach.

St. Johns County issues Veterans Day holiday office hours

All departments of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners, St. Johns County administrative offices, the Supervisor of Elections Office, the Property Appraiser’s Office, the Tax Collector’s Office, and the Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller’s Office will be closed Friday, Nov.

Atlantic Beach soliciting input for parks master plan

A community open house will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, to solicit input for updates to the parks master plan in Atlantic Beach. The meeting will be held at First Baptist Church, 1050 Mayport Road.

Homeless advocate honored

An advocate for the homeless was honored for his efforts to meet people where they are. Tracy Gebeaux is a well-known fixture among the beaches homeless population. For years, he’s quietly delivered breakfast, gift cards, snacks and socks to those living on the beaches streets.
