Some Jacksonville Beach residents want Adventure Landing lease extended

With less than a month left before Adventure Landing is scheduled to close, several Jacksonville Beach residents are campaigning to extend the lease and allow the attraction to remain open at its Beach Boulevard location.

Book sale set for Tuesday through Saturday

The Friends of the Beaches Branch Library will hold a book sale Tuesday through Saturday, Oct. 12 through Oct. 16. There will be used books, CDs and DVDs, most priced at $2. The sale will be held inside the library, located at 600 Third St. in Neptune Beach.

Boys & Girls Club names Youth of the Month

McKenzie’s Beaches Boys & Girls Club recently announced as its September Senior and Middle School Youth of the Month Kaden Maxwell, a fifth-grader at Seabreeze, and Fountain Walker, a senior at Fletcher High School. Scott Wiley, program sponsor, presented each student with a gift card.

Beaches musician, sound engineer dies

A local musician and sound engineer deeply rooted in Beaches history has left the building. Dave Plummer, 79, died Sept. 22. He was known throughout the Beaches as a great musician, a talented recording engineer, a skilled builder and part of a storied family in the Beaches community.
