Fort Matanzas Beach vehicle ramp and parking lot closing

The Fort Matanzas vehicular beach access ramp and associated parking lot will close Tuesday, Sept. 7, to allow the mobilization and setup of equipment for sand placement activities. While the project is underway, there will be no pedestrian or vehicular access to the beach from this parking lot.

Neptune Beach officials are asking for an even cut of the revenue generated by the paid parking program in Atlantic Beach. City Commissioners discussed the request during the Aug. 9 meeting. Neptune Beach facilitates the program for both cities.

Former officer for Neptune Beach and Jax Beach loses COVID battle

A dedicated police officer, beloved football coach and friend to many throughout the community lost his battle with COVID-19 Saturday in Jacksonville Beach. Dozens of patrol cars escorted Eddie Bounds from Beaches Hospital to Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home.
