Goodwill employee arrested for voyeurism

An employee at Goodwill in Jacksonville Beach was charged with video voyeurism, a third-degree felony, after he was caught taking photos of a woman in a dressing room. Andrew Matisoo, 31, of Jacksonville was arrested Nov. 10 in the 1300 block of Beach Boulevard.

Jacksonville Beach Lifeguards of the Year named

Two members of the Jacksonville Beach Ocean Rescue (JBOR) were recently recognized by their peers for outstanding service. Christopher Daniels and Arianna Phomvonsga were honored as this year's Lifeguard of the Year and Rookie Lifeguard of the Year at City Hall.

Fletcher students plant sea oats

The Fletcher Marine Science classes were out Nov. 8, planting sea oats and putting up protective dune barriers. 500 sea oats were planted, and two more blocks of North Jax Beach received barriers.

Man charged with attempted murder in Jacksonville Beach

A 24-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a bar fight in Jacksonville Beach. Austin Lennon of Jacksonville was arrested after an employee at the Tavern on First Street flagged an officer down for help shortly after 1 a.m. Nov. 7.

On Nov. 4, elected officials, and state and local partners, cut the ribbon for the final segment of the East Coast Greenway through the city of Neptune Beach.

Jacksonville Beach honoring three fallen military heroes

Jacksonville Beach officials will recognize three fallen military heroes as part of the city’s Honorary Street Name Designation program. The City Council recently approved a request from the families of Marine Corps Cpl. Marcus W. Preudhomme, Army Pvt. 1st Class John H. Franks and Marine Corps Pvt.

Closing of Adventure Landing postponed

Adventure Landing amusement park in Jacksonville Beach will remain open until at least the end of the year. The family entertainment center located at 1944 Beach Blvd. was originally slated to close Oct. 31, but was granted an extension through the end of December.

Back to the drawing board for Mayport flyover art plans

Atlantic Beach officials are going back to the drawing board with plans to transform the Mayport flyover with public art. The site was originally part of a package presented to the City Commission by Art Republic, which was responsible for the cluster of murals installed on Mayport Road.
