St. Johns County announces Martin Luther King Jr. holiday office hours

All departments of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners and Administrative offices, St. Johns County library branches, the Property Appraiser’s office, the Tax Collector’s office, the Clerk of Courts’ office and the Supervisor of Elections’ office will be closed Monday, Jan.

Explore the beach at GTM Research Reserve

FHS Leadership Class donates to Shoeboxes of Love

The Leadership Class at Fletcher High School collected donations for Shoeboxes of Love over the holidays. The class donated more than 50 filled shoeboxes to the homeless.

Springing the Blues set to return to Jacksonville Beach

The third time's the charm for the 30th annual Springing the Blues festival in Jacksonville Beach. Or at least that’s the mantra for the 2022 event to be held April 1 through 3 at the SeaWalk Pavilion. If the last two years have proven anything, it’s to hope for the best but plan for the worst.

Vaccination event is Saturday at Duval schools

COVID-19 vaccination clinics will be held at four different Duval County Public Schools locations. The clinics are open for any individual age 5 or older. A parent or legal guardian must be in attendance with children under 18. Consent forms, available at the event, will be required.

DCPS offering virtual school choice expo

Duval County Public Schools will hold a virtual school choice expo Saturday, Jan. 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the online platform, School Match 2022. Families will have the opportunity to learn about different schools, and speak with members of the school and district leaders live.

Cost-share project applications being accepted

The St. Johns River Water Management District is accepting applications through Feb. 18 for both its Fiscal Year 2022–2023 Districtwide Cost-Share Program and its FY 2022–2023 funding program for Rural Economic Development Initiative (REDI) communities and innovative projects.

Neptune Beach seeks candidates for council vacancy

The Neptune Beach City Council is seeking candidates to fill Council Seat 5 recently vacated by Vice Mayor Fred Jones. Mayor Elaine Brown announced at the Jan. 3 City Council meeting that Jones had resigned effective Dec.17, 2021.
