Mickler’s Landing Beachfront Park open for Easter holiday

Mickler’s Landing Beachfront Park and portions of the parking lot are now open for the Easter holiday. The pedestrian beach access and parking lot will close at 8 p.m. Sunday, April 17, and remain closed Monday through Friday to allow crews to continue working on the FEMA Dune Enhancement Project.

Here are places to be when the sun comes up on Easter

For those who want to celebrate the meaning of Easter at the rising of the sun, there are numerous options in the beaches community. From Atlantic Beach to Ponte Vedra Beach, there will be Easter sunrise worship services offered at the beach and on church campuses.

St. Johns County issues Good Friday holiday office hours

All departments of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners and Administrative offices, the Property Appraiser’s office, the Clerk of Court’s office, and the Supervisor of Elections’ office will be closed Friday, April 15, in observance of the Good Friday holiday.

Wet March relieves near drought conditions throughout most of water management district

After a dry February, above-average rainfall throughout most of the region relieved signs of drought in the central and northern region of the St. Johns River Water Management District as reported in the U.S. Drought Monitor. The districtwide total of 7.

Atlantic Beach seeking donations for refugees

Donations are needed to help displaced refugees from the Ukraine resettle in Jacksonville. In partnership with Catholic Charities Jacksonville volunteers, the city of Atlantic Beach staff will host "AB Loves Ukraine: A Refugee Resettlement Supply Drive" from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Added services celebrated at BEAM's Mayport location

Friends, volunteers and supporters kicked off April with a grand reopening of the Mayport Pantry and Service Center operated by the Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM). April 1 was a day of celebration at the market at 1447 Mayport Road.

Jax Beach ends negotiations with Life Saving Corps

Contract negotiations between the city of Jacksonville Beach and the Volunteer Life Saving Corps (VLSC) ended abruptly April 5 following accusations that members of the corps violated the terms of the new agreement.
