May 15-21 proclaimed as Water Reuse Week

On May 10, the St. Johns River Water Management District’s Governing Board approved a resolution proclaiming May 15 through 21 as Water Reuse Week. This is in an effort to help promote and encourage efficient use of reclaimed water in the district.

Neptune Beach working to protect city from rising sea levels

Neptune Beach is taking proactive measures to prioritize the redesign of its stormwater system and better protect the city from rising sea levels. On May 2, the City Council unanimously approved $91,300 in funding to complete Phase II of the Resiliency Lab Storm Sensor Project.

The Beaches Go Green Octopus Garden found a permanent home at Mayport Coastal Sciences Middle School. The grand opening of the Octopus Garden, a single-use plastic awareness art installation and now outdoor learning space, took place at MCSMS in honor of Earth Week.

St. Johns County urges beachgoers to take precautions to protect sea turtle nests

Sea turtle nesting season is officially underway in St. Johns County through Oct. 31. Residents, visitors and businesses are asked to help protect natural sea turtle habitats by observing all nesting season laws and regulations. Vehicular beach traffic is only allowed from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
