Thursday, May 26 Food Drive: Elite DNA Therapy Services is hosting a food collection drive through May 31 to support area food banks. Donations may be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, at any Elite DNA location.

Pet Expo is this weekend

The 2022 Jacksonville Pet Expo will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29, at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center, 1000 Water St., Jacksonville. There will be live animal shows, pet adoptions, grooming contests, pet experts, and exhibitors for home and pet services. Hours are 10 a.m.

First Coast Cultural Center raises $90,000

This year’s Beaches – A Celebration of the Arts  annual fundraising event held May 15 at The Surf Club Patio at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club in Ponte Vedra Beach raised $90,000 to support educational programs at the First Coast Cultural Center.

St. Johns County offers free Memorial Day weekend beach shuttles

Memorial Day weekend is one of the busiest holiday weekends on St. Johns County’s beaches. To reduce traffic congestion, St. Johns County Beach Services offers two free shuttles. St. Johns County Ocean and Fishing Pier shuttle: May 28 through May 30 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. St.

Mickler’s Landing Beachfront Park reopens

Mickler’s Landing Beachfront Park reopened for public use Saturday, May 21, and will remain open during regular hours through the summer season. As a reminder, parking lot improvements will occur after the summer season.

BEAM receives $20,000 grant

A $20,000 matching grant will help Beaches families struggling against the rising tides of inflation. The Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM) recently received an anonymous financial gift from a longtime supporter and beaches resident.

Prescribed burn taking place at Black Creek Ravines

The St. Johns River Water Management District is conducting a 175-acre prescribed burn May 24 at Black Creek Ravines Conservation Area, on the southeast portion of the property. The purpose of the burn is to maintain fire-dependent ecosystems and reduce hazardous fuel loads.
