Jax Beach files counterclaim against VLSC

Jacksonville Beach leaders are asking the court to determine the enforcement of the shared-use agreement with the Volunteer Life Saving Corps in its counterclaim filed against the not-for-profit organization.

Violinist returns for Palms Presbyterian's upcoming Music Sunday

The community is invited to Music Sunday – “Light Beyond Shadow: After the Storm” – Sunday, June 12, at Palms Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville Beach. Performances will be at 8:30 and 11 a.m. It is a service of remembrance and hope, according to conductor Ronn Cummings.

Brian Burket, the waterfront project manager for the city of Jacksonville’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services, hosted a tour for members of the Mayport Waterfront Partnership of the new Mayport Community Center at 4875 Ocean St. in the village of Mayport.

FHS Brain Brawl team takes part in national championship

The Fletcher High Brain Brawl team participated in the High School National Championship Tournament in Atlanta over Memorial Day weekend, coming away with their best finish in school history – 146th out of 272 of the best teams from around the country.

Public art planned for Jacksonville Beach

Public art is planned for several key locations throughout Jacksonville Beach. The newly-appointed Art Advisory Committee recently identified a number of areas with high visibility in the Central Business District that could benefit from a public art installation.

A former oceanfront restaurant recently sold for more than $5.5 million in Jacksonville Beach. Vera Duren of 831 First Street North LLC, Palm Coast, purchased the location of the former Southern Kitchen and Bar, previously the Seachasers Lounge, property located at 831 1st St. N.

Beach Barn is a safe place for those in 6th-12th grades

It is a victory on one man’s vision in the 1980s and the current congregation's dedication to youth. The new House for Student Ministry at 80 20th Avenue N. in Neptune Beach was dedicated April 23. It is the youth outreach of First Christian Church of the Beaches.

Prescribed fire held at Julington-Durbin Preserve in Duval County

The St. Johns River Water Management District is conducting a 59-acre prescribed burn June 1 at the Julington-Durbin Preserve, on the eastern portion of the property near Bartram Park Boulevard. During this burn, a portion of the white trail will be closed to ensure public safety.
