Paid parking is in effect in Jacksonville Beach at the Pier Parking Lot at 503 1st St. N., 3rd Avenue North Parking Lot at 422 1st St. N., CRA 2nd Street North Lot at 450 2nd St. N. and Latham Plaza Parking Lot at 14 1st St. N. Paid parking runs through Oct. 30 from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Fridays, 10 a.m.

'Bonnie and Clyde: The Musical' opens March 18

Two of America’s most notorious lovers and bank robbers take the stage by storm in a compelling musical adventure. All Beaches Experimental Theatre's “Bonnie and Clyde: The Musical” opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 18. The production will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m.

Arrest made in Jacksonville Beach home invasion case

A suspect is in custody after posing as an Amazon driver during a home invasion earlier this year in Jacksonville Beach. Christian Javier Vazquez Ortiz was arrested March 8 and charged with home invasion robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and aggravated assault.

Jax Beach working to develop plan to regulate micromobility devices

Taking cues from a handful of Florida cities, Jacksonville Beach officials are moving to establish a plan to regulate the use of micromobility devices in the downtown area. The proposed plan will operate as a pilot program for a 12-month period.

Senior/Middle School Youths of the Month named

McKenzie’s Beaches Boys & Girls Club has announced the Senior and Middle School Youths of the Month for January. They are seniors Darius Brady and Lauren Rom, and juniors Jayden Reeder and Gregxianys Vega.

Jacksonville Beach will not take over garbage collection

Garbage collection will remain a third-party operation in Jacksonville Beach. On Feb. 28, the City Council reviewed the projected costs for bringing trash operations in-house or seeking a new contract for waste management services.

Beaches Exchange Club recognizes local students

At its Feb. 25 meeting, the Beaches Exchange Club continued its recognition of outstanding young adults with the February Students of the Month program. Fletcher High School seniors Megan Barts and Seth Allen, and Ponte Vedra High School seniors Evan Fleisher and Cate Rosa, were recognized.

St. Johns County COVID-19 testing site to close on weekends

The St. Johns County COVID-19 testing site located at the Wind Mitigation Building is now closed on Saturdays and Sundays due to a decrease in testing demand. The testing site remains open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
