Sisler Johnston receives awards for design work

Sisler Johnston Interior Design received two Aurora Awards, including the Grand Award from the Florida Home Builders Association, for the firm’s work at The Palms at Ponte Vedra, an assisted living and memory care community for seniors.

Nine centenarians recognized at Christ Episcopal Church

Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra Beach spent last week recognizing nine of the congregation who are age 99 to 103. They were celebrated at the service on Sunday, July 31, with Rev. Rick Westbury recognizing those present and speaking a little about their lives.

Ponte Vedra Writers meet Saturday

The Florida Writers Association Ponte Vedra Writers Association will meet Saturday, Aug. 13, at 10:30 a.m. at the Ponte Vedra Library. Attorney Deborah Reid will give a presentation on “Copywrite or Wrong.” The workshop will guide participants through the fundamentals of copyright law.

Ponte Vedra Beach's Murphy wins Olympic gold

Ryan Murphy of Ponte Vedra Beach won the gold medal in Rio Aug. 8 in the 100-meter backstroke.  Murphy attended The Bolles School, but predicted his Olympic future as an 8-year-old at Ponte Vedra's Palmer Catholic Academy in a project he did for his class.

Stellers Gallery welcomes Erika Stearly

Stellers Gallery at Ponte Vedra has announced work by artist Erika Stearly as their newest addition to the gallery.  Stearly’s mixed media paintings feature furniture and other household objects as a way to contemplate abstraction and representation.

Ratha Yatra festival celebrates Indian culture, history and more

The Festival of Chariots Bhakti Yoga Culture and Wellness Fest will take place on Saturday, Aug. 13, from 4 to 9 p.m. at the SeaWalk Pavilion. The multi-cultural event is free and open to the public. All attendees are welcome to participate.

Mayport Naval Station has new commanding officer

Naval Station Mayport commanding officer Capt. Wesley R. McCall was relieved of his duties Aug. 5 by Capt. David J. Yoder during a change of command ceremony, marking the end of his three years as commanding officer, as well as his time in Mayport.
