The Jacksonville Beach Lifeguard Station provided fun in the sun and a great learning experience for many campers this week through its Junior Lifeguard camp.

Woodturners create art from Beaches Branch Library sycamore trees

While some Beaches residents have been lamenting the recent loss of the sycamore trees from outside the Beaches Branch of the Jacksonville Public Library (JPL) in Neptune Beach, area woodworkers are creating art from the trees.

Atlantic Beach family that trained Canine Companion visited

After receiving training in Atlantic Beach in 2007, service dog Madine returned for a visit recently as she prepares to retire to a life of leisure. Madine, also known as Dina the Wonder Dog, was the first Canine Companion for Independence (CCI) service dog trained by local veterinarian Dr.

Jacksonville Beach tax rate to drop

Jacksonville Beach property owners could see a lower millage rate than last year, but the proposed rate of 3.7947 is still 3 percent more than the rolled back rate. The proposed tax rate is included in a proposed budget and business plan for the upcoming fiscal year that begins Oct. 1.
