Ponte Vedra High School to hold orientations

In preparation for the Aug. 10 return to school, Ponte Vedra High School will host orientation for students July 26 and July 27, with a make-up orientation to be held Aug. 1.  On Tuesday, July 26, in the PVHS auditorium, senior orientation will be held from 8 to 10 a.m.

Churches join to offer neighborhood cookouts

The Beaches Veteran’s Memorial Park, 100 S. Main in Atlantic Beach, will be hopping for the next two Saturdays with live music and a basic cookout. Two community-minded churches are joining to offer neighborhood cookouts this Saturday, July 23, and Saturday, July 30, for the local residents.

Rubber Ducks and Food Trucks to raise funds for SJC autism campus

The inaugural Rubber Ducks and Food Trucks – River Race for Autism will be held Saturday, July 23, at the Jacksonville Landing to raise money for the development of a 20-acre autism campus, HealthyU Community, to be developed in St. Johns County.

Fletcher High Dance Ensemble places second in competition

The Fletcher High School Dance Ensemble received a bid to compete in ESPN's National Dance Team Championships by placing second in the Universal Dance Association's Regional High School Dance Team Competition held in St. Augustine at the World Golf Village recently.

Beach tax base booms

Beach property values rose at a much greater pace than did the rest of the county, according to the county property appraiser. Beaches property values account for nearly 10 percent of the county’s total tax rolls, based on preliminary estimates for 2016.

Y-Bag returns

The Youth of the Beaches Arts Guild (Y-Bag) returns to the Beaches this summer for a special reunion. Beginning in 1981, Y-Bag offered a musical theatre summer program for 25 years.

Beaches library renovation begins

Neptune Beach Elementary employee recognized

Susan Barnhill of Neptune Beach Elementary was recognized this year for her dedication and commitment, earning the title of School-Related Employee of the Year. Barnhill has worked as an office clerk at the elementary school for 16 years, going above and beyond the requirements of her job.
