Initiative launches to protect Mayport in BRAC round

Zika virus has St. Johns schools implementing policies to fight mosquitoes

Due to the recent concern about the Zika virus, the St. Johns County School District (SJCSD) is working to take proper safety precautions on school grounds, in coordination with the Department of Health and Anastasia Mosquito Control under guidelines of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Submissions open for 11th Annual Teen Battle of the Bands

The Jacksonville Public Library is currently accepting submissions for the 11th Annual Teen Battle of the Bands. The event is open to groups of two or more musicians, between the ages of 12 and 18, who are residents of Duval County.

John Piantadosi loves music – all kinds. But most of all, he loves spiritual music. So much so that he has a cross on the shoulder strap of his acoustic guitar. Piantadosi wasn’t always a Christian musician. He was raised Catholic and had his confirmation when he was 14.

Christ Episcopal Church gives bus to St. Philip's Episcopal

The Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra's bus has found a new home. Since 2004, the Chevrolet 20-passenger bus shuttled hundreds of local youth and adults, to the airport for mission trips to Cuba and Bolivia, to camp and road trips throughout North Florida.

MSD has full slate of races

Six candidates will run to fill three seats on the Municipal Service District of Ponte Vedra's board, with results to be determined by the Aug. 30 primary election.  The election for seats 2, 4 and 6 will be the first in sixteen years for the MSD.

Vitti says Fletcher grade will improve

Despite receiving a C for the 2015-2016 school year, Fletcher High School's grade will improve by next year, Duval County Superintendent Nikolai Vitti told Beaches business leaders last week.
